Dr. Wright - Very true. That kind of objective look at your business usually needs to come from an adviser or a board of some kind. It helps to have friends and partners these days.

Tim - Good call on the Mozingo music. Allowing people to have a product experience creates a lot of buzz and community. I suppose that Maxine Clark championed this concept with Build-a-Bear - an experience and not just a product. The other remarkable thing about Schlafly is that even his restaurants are not the typical st. Louis bar...not just toasted rav and Cardinals. They are unique to the Schlafly brand.

Thanks for the comments.

Great post Jeremy. I think one of the best things Tom Schlafly ever did was to create the restaurants. Anytime a producer gets customers to use the core product right in front of them, it is a victory. Another great example of this is Jeff Mozingo creating "The Stage" at his O'Fallon store so that kids would get the opportunity to perform at his location with the instrument purchased from him.

Keep up the good work.

Finding ways to monetize is always hard. You sometimes need another
person to look at your business and help you see the ideas there.
